Take on the challenge of acute care and meet the greater need

for people 13 years and older

Through its Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, Seattle University attracts nurse practitioner candidates from a variety of backgrounds:

  • Current registered nurses with BSN or master's degrees, who enter the 3-year DNP program directly

  • Non-nurses with a bachelor’s degree in another field (related to health or not), who complete an accelerated RN pre-licensure program before starting the 3-year DNP program

Alternate Entry. Our Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion (APNI) program opens doors for non-nurses. Not all DNP degree programs allow for “alternate entry.”

Greatest Need. You’ll study advanced practice nursing mindsets and methodology by focusing on the whole person, not simply the disease process. You'll be able to provide care for patients during times of urgent demand.

Inpatient Focus. Through clinically focused courses, with high academic standards, you’ll learn what it takes to become an admired and respected independent nurse practitioner with full scope of practice for acute care. You’ll be qualified to work in these and other settings and to rise to the challenge of the greatest medical need in more than a century:

  • Inpatient

  • Intensive care

  • Emergency

Help more people at their time of greatest need by earning your DNP in acute care. Complete this form to learn more.

Already a Nurse Practitioner?
Seattle University also offers a 15-month, post-graduate Acute Care Certificate program for current nurse practitioners who want to expand their scope of practice.

LEAD IN TIMES OF CRISIS

In many communities, it’s getting harder for people to access regular medical care. That’s why so many end up in the ER, desperate. As an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, you can be part of the solution to this social justice issue and you can help meet the increased demand for hospitalization due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PROVIDE IN-DEMAND ACUTE CARE

Many states allow nurse practitioners to have full scope of practice inside hospitals, ER departments and intensive care units. This means acute care nurse practitioners can evaluate, diagnose and provide care for patients, including ordering diagnostic tests and evaluating the results as well as the authority to prescribe medications.

ACHIEVE MORE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR PATIENTS

The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is the highest clinical, patient-focused nursing degree you can get. At this unique time in health care history, you can expand your nursing career or start a whole new career with more clout from earning your DNP degree in 3-4 years. Request details now!
